I had the most reposeful time interviewing Animal House owner, Ronny Kleyweg in Venice one afternoon.  Fashioned in a t-shirt, flip-flops and shorts, Ronny’s attire matched his laid back and warm personality, making it easy to see how he’s maintained 30 years of business on Venice Beach.  Back in the 1970’s, Ronny worked at the now closed, Aardvark, vintage/thrift store down the street.  Here he began his education in vintage, which led to the opening of his first store named “A ZOO”.  When he found out the old ice cream parlor in Venice was up for sale, he bought it and transformed it into what is now “Animal House”.   Although the vintage market has become quite saturated in L.A., Ronny’s store reigns king as one of the longest running and most successful stores in Southern California.
