I am so happy to promote a brand new store in Austin! I can’t wait to see it grow. Today, I interview Sonia of Revival Vintage. Her store has a 50s-60s vibe offering apparel, collectables, novelties and art.

RNR: Tell me about your business and where you are from.
RVV: I’m from Tucson but grew up in Philadelphia and then went back to Tucson. At first I didn’t want a store front. I thought it was too much overhead and I would be stuck there 40 hours a week. But then I started to look and then I would miss out on a place. Then this store came around.
RNR: How long have you been here?
RVV: I’ve been at this shop 3 months.
RNR: What were you doing before that?
RVV: I had a little spot at the Austin Antique Mall and I’ve been on Etsy for a few years. Then this place came about and I didn’t get it, somebody beat me to it. This year I drove by and it was vacant. I called and it was available. This was February 18th and my lease started March 1st. So, now I had to fill a store.
RNR: So, when did you start collecting vintage?
RVV: In high school. And I came to the realization that I have to do what I love. It seemed like the right time to open a shop.
(Customers enter and want to show Sonia some clothes to sell).
RNR: And how do you feel 3 months into it? Do you still love it
RVV: Yeah, I do. Luckily my husband supports me. He’s my number one cheerleader. It was hard, I didn’t have a big chunk of change to get started, I used everything I had saved in the bank, so any free advertising, I will take, like Instagram and Facebook. But, I don’t have a website yet.
RNR: Will you stay in Austin for a long time?
RVV: Yeah, we have so much going on here right now, maybe one day we will go back to Philadelphia. We’re both pretty happy here right now.
So great talking to you, Sonia. Best of luck with your new store!
OMG why don’t I live closer! What a great looking shop
